What is IR35?

IR35 is a piece of anti tax avoidance legislation to combat ‘disguised employment’, so contractors are paying the right level of tax. Upcoming reform to the private sector means the responsibility of deciding whether a contractor is working inside or outside of IR35 will be with the end hirer – not the contractor.

Because of the extra risk and administration, some end hirers are having ‘blanket bans’ on contractors that work through a LTD company. This means contractors will more than likely need some Umbrella employment services for certain contracts.
